How to Receive Marriage Certificate Via NADRA
Good news for married couples in Pakistan! NADRA has simplified the process for obtaining a marriage certificate (Nikah Nama) through Union Councils. Now, couples can easily register their marriage and get an official certificate with fewer hassles. This new procedure ensures transparency, accuracy, and efficiency, making it easier for citizens to comply with legal requirements.
According to NADRA, it is mandatory for every married couple to register their marriage at the Union Council. The updated process allows either the bride or groom to visit the Union Council for registration. Staff at the Union Council verify all documents provided, including the original Nikah Nama, copies of identity cards of the bride, groom, their parents, and witnesses. Once verified, the Nikah Nama is entered into NADRA’s system, and a printout is provided for proofreading.

After confirming all the details, the applicant signs the form and submits it back to the staff. The Union Council then issues the official marriage certificate. Currently, this facility is available in Chakwal, Nankana Sahib, Quetta, and Karachi East. Couples can also use the NADRA Pak ID mobile app to initiate the process, further increasing convenience and reducing the need for multiple visits.
